Before deciding

Questions to carry into a visit

Use the questions that matter to you. You do not need to ask them perfectly to deserve a clear answer.

Who is making the care decision?

  • What is the prescriber’s full name and role?
  • Which state board holds their licence?
  • Who will answer my own questions after the visit?

Write down names rather than relying on a website badge. Ask for an explanation of any role you do not recognise.

What is the treatment meant to address?

  • Why does this option fit my history?
  • What other choices can we discuss?
  • What is the exact product and form?
  • What did studies show, and what is still uncertain?

Bring the answer back to your own goal. It is fine to ask the clinician to explain it in shorter words.

Who handles tests and medicine?

  • What is each test meant to tell us?
  • Can recent results be used?
  • Which pharmacy fills the order?
  • If it is made to order, who makes it and why?

Keep the full product and pharmacy names with your visit notes. These details make later checks easier.

What is the ongoing bill?

  • What is included in the care fee?
  • Which charges are separate?
  • What changes after an introductory offer?
  • What can be refunded if treatment is not prescribed?
  • How do I cancel?
Work through the bill

What happens between visits?

  • How do I report a new concern?
  • Who replies, and when?
  • What is reviewed at the next visit?
  • How is care handed over if I leave?

Medical board guidance requires a chance for patients to ask further questions of the health professional.
